Eric Mellon
Ceramic designer. 1925-2014. He joined Watford College of Art in1939 and began studying at the Central School of Arts & Crafts in 1945. In 1947 he was awarded the National Diploma in Design: Illustration and appointed Exhibition designer to SPCK. He taught at both Slindon College, where he was appointed Head of Art in 1973 and Havant Sixth Form College where he was made Head of Pottery in 1977. Mellon also practises as a wood engraver, he was a pupil of John Farleigh at the Central School. His book with wood engravings, 'Thoughts on Drawing', Inky Parrott Press, 1996. is available in the book collection of the Museum.
