James S. Holland
trained at Rochester School of Art and at the Royal College of Art in 1924. Holland, with James Fitton and the Canadian painter James Boswell, started the Artists International Association, which was a pacifist organisation of artists. In 1940 he was offered a post at the Ministry of Information in the exhibition design department and in 1948, he was part of the team that planned the 1951 Festival of Britain.
