Margaret Hine
Born in Derby, Hine attended the Derby School of Art and Design and the University of London, Institute of London where she obtained her Art Teacher's Diploma. She taught at Barnet College of Further Education 1950-54, the Institute of Education, 1968, and High Wycombe School of Art 1965-72. At the Central School she met and married William Newland and with him and Nicholas Vergette founded the Bayswater Group, later known as The Picassoettes - a term first coined by Bernard Leach. She and Newland worked together on many interior design projects including 1950s coffee bars - such as Lyons Corner House, and the Golden Egg chain of restaurants.
