Susan Einzig
Born in Berlin she came to London in 1939 and studied graphic design and illustration at the Central School (1939-1942) under John Farleigh, Noel Rooke, Bernard Meninsky and William Roberts. She taught at Camberwell (1946-51), St. Martins (1948-51) and Chelsea (1959-65). She worked regularly for the Radio Times, House and Garden, Picture Post and other journals. She is best known as a book illustrator on works such as Philippa Pearce's 'Tom's Midnight Garden' (OUP 1958), Elizabeth Poston's 'Children's song book' (Bodley Head 1961) and Edith Nesbit's 'The Bastables (Nonesuch Press 1965).
