John Baker
John (aka Jack) Baker, 1916-2007, studied at the Central School in London and worked under James Hogan at the Whitefriars stained-glass studios before joining Samuel Caldwell junior at Canterbury Cathedral in 1948 to help reinstate the medieval glass removed for safekeeping during the Second World War.
He wrote English Stained Glass; (revised edition English Stained glass of the Medieval Period). He taught at Kingston College of Art and he produced windows for a number of churches.
He was a fellow student with George Downs, Margaret Till (née Levetus), Hilary Stebbing, Eve Sheldon-Williams, Monica Walker and Roderic Barrett, among others.
