Description'Checked' pattern made up of twelve one-inch blocks. Black on natural. Sample sent to Crane Art Gallery, Chichester 1/3/1949; and 'Ornate ' version sent to Primavera 13/5/49. "No 26 Spells" inscribed on print. Probably designed while still a student at the Central, and an example of the use of one-inch squares as a basis for pattern-making, as taught by Dora Batty.
