Diana Armfield

She studied at the Slade and was also a student of textile design at the Central School from 1945. 'There were six mature students in the Textile Department and we had real enthusiasm and a desire to learn'. On leaving she set up a partnership with Roy Passano, 'Armfield-Passano' which screenprinted textiles. They were commissioned to submit hangings for the 1951 Festival of Britain. Since the 1960's she has practised mainly as a painter and was elected R.A. in 1989.
