Ann Curtis
Ann Curtis trained at Central School of Art and Design.
She spent three seasons as Ladies' Cutter at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre followed by several seasons collaborating with John Bury on costumes for: "The Wars of the Roses", "The Histories Cycle", "Hamlet", Indians", etc. Other productions there include: "The Government Inspector", "The Tempest", "The Romans Season" and sets and costumes for "Theatre-go-round".
Other costume designs include: "Moses und Aron", "Die Zauberflöte" (also with John Bury); "Troilus and Cressida" (Royal Opera House); "A Night in Venice", "Don Carlos" (English National Opera); "Owen Wingrave" (Glyndebourne Festival Opera); "A Midsummer Night's Dream" (Copenhagen); "The Merchant", "St. Joan", "The Beggars' Opera" (Birmingham Repertory Theatre); "Uncle Vanya", "Man and Superman" (Haymarket Theatre London); "Me and My Girl" (Leicester Haymarket; Adelphi, London and Broadway) which received New York Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations.
Since 1980 she has worked mainly in Canada at the Stratford Festival (including some set design) in London, Ontario, Edmonton, Alberta, The Canadian Opera Company in Toronto and for a film, "The Wars". New York productions include "Jekyll and Hyde" which was nominated for a Tony.
She has taught History of Costume and Costume design at Central Saint Martin's, at the Montreal Theatre School and at the Motley in London.
