Paul Eachus
Paul Eachus was was a multi-disciplinary artist. He trained at the Liverpool School of Art, 1961-1966, and the Royal College of Art, London, 1966-1970. He taught on the Foundation course at St. Martins full time from 1975 - 2005.
Formally trained as a painter which he practiced early in his career. Later he became interested in a combination of painting and photography working alongside with John Goto (1983-7). In late 80s and 90s, his practice further expanded and it took the form of installation, video, slide projection, drawing and still photography. In 2000-15, Eachus made his most elaborate works. These were made in his studio that took the form of large scale photoworks as well as large scale sculptures/installations.
He co-curated a number of exhibitions with the artist Nooshin Farhid, including the multi-site project called ‘Use this kind of Sky’. It was funded by the Art Council of England and manifested as a gallery show, site-specific installation, radio broadcast, film and video screening, online publication and online Forum.
