Walter Spradbery

Walter Spradbery was a watercolorist, linocut artist, poster designer and art teacher. He specialised in landscapes showing the countryside around London and regularly exhibited at the Royal Academy. His poster designs were produced mainly for London Transport, although he received some commissions for the LNER and British Railways. A lifelong pacifist, he served in the Royal Army Medical Corps during the First World War, and was also an official war artist. A memorial exhibition was held at the William Morris Gallery, London in 1970.
