Doris Boulton

Wood engraver, colour woodcut artist, and etcher, Doris Boulton exhibited between 1916 and 1940. Elected ARE in 1918, her membership ceased in 1923 when she went to Egypt (1924-31) as artist to the Pennsylvania Archaeological Expedition to Palestine. Her etchings of the Near East date from 1930 to 1934 (two illustrated in Kenneth Guichard, British Etchers 1850-1940, and Robin Garton, British Printmakers 1855-1955 ). She showed wood engravings in annual exhibitions of the Society of Wood Engravers, and colour woodcuts in the Society of Graver Printers in Colour exhibitions (1933-8). After 1937 she was known as Doris Boulton-Maude.
