Val Biro was a student at the Central School between 1939 and 1942. Studying under Noel Rooke, John Farleigh, Hal Massingham, Jesse Collins, Bernard Meninsky, and Morris Kestelman. When the college was evacuated to Northampton during the war years, Biro studied under Bernard Adeney. He is mainly known for his work for The Radio Times and his book illustration work including book jackets and books for adults and children. His own series of books based on 'Gumdrop' a vintage car published by Brockhampton are especially popular.
