Robert Welch
A student at Malvern School of Art, Birmingham College of Art and the RCA, he developed a special interest in stainless steel in 1954-5 and established his workshop in Chipping Camden in 1955. His work in silver and stainless steel was displayed in Foyle's Gallery in 1956 and seen there by Halliwell, who invited him to teach part-time in the Industrial Design Department at the Central School from 1956. His silverware and stainless steel were exhibited at Heal's in the 1960s. He is perhaps best known for his Old Hall tableware, cast iron cookware, Alveston cutlery, etc. He was elected RDI in 1965.
