A. Halcrow Verstage was a student at the Central School and later an assistant teacher in the Architecture Department. He was a protegee of W.R. Lethaby, the founding Principal of the College who was himself an architect. According to Eric Gill in his autobiography, Lethaby put Verstage in charge of creating possible designs for the Central School of Arts and Crafts building in 1903. The final designs were produced by Riley of the LCC Architects Department , Verstage was later employed by them and designed many building around London.
