Cliff Tyrell

Born in Jamaica, died in Cornwall.
Cliff Tyrell was one of the pioneering cartoonists in Jamaica in the 1930s. He later became a talented sculptor and painter. He was especially good at making portrait heads cast in bronze.
Tyrell left Jamaica in 1937 on a British Council scholarship to study at the Central School of Arts and Crafts.
He was awarded the Silver Musgrave Award in 1936, an award granted by the Institute of Jamaica for accomplishments in art, science and literature.
