Douglas Scott
He studied Silversmithing and Jewellery at the Central School from 1926 to 1929 and worked for a number of design practices including Raymond Loewy Studio, London, from 1936 to 1939 (for whom he redesigned the Rayburn and Aga cookers for Allied Ironfounders). In the Second World War he worked for De Haviland on aero engines. Alongside his own practice he set up a pioneering Industrial Design course at the Central School from 1945 to 1949, and taught there again from 1952 to 1976. His wide range of designs include work for London Transport, Rediffusion and the GPO. He designed the Routemaster double-decker bus in 1953. He was elected RDI in 1974.
