Paul Scheurich was one of the foremost poster designers working in Germany between 1910 and 1930. He was contracted to the Berlin printing firm of Hollerbaum & Schmidt, where he shared a studio with Julius Klinger. Hollerbaum & Schmidt were lithographic printers who specialised in the large format coloured work associated with posters. They took pride in the artistic quality of their work and were at the forefront of the graphic establishment in Germany.
The Scheurich retrospective of 1919 included some 150 poster designs.
