John Parsons

John Parsons was a fellow student at the Central School with George Downs, Margaret Till (née Levetus), Hilary Stebbing, Eve Sheldon-Williams, Monica Walker and Roderic Barrett, among others. He became a graphic artist specializing in commercial advertising work, and he also illustrated a few books and book jackets. He exhibited with the Society of Wood Engravers (SWE) in 1940 and examples of his student work featured in books by his teacher, John Farleigh ("Graven Image" [1940] and "Engraving on Wood" [1954]). From 1940 to 1965 he was art editor of Vogue. He was a Fellow of the Society of Industrial Artists and Designers.
