Mervyn C. Oliver

Mervyn Oliver was a student of Edward Johnston at the Royal College of Art. He taught at the Central School, the chelsea School of Art, St Martin's School of Art and the Hampstead Garden Suburb Institute. He was the author of the chapters on the design of manuscript books and inscriptions,a nd the development of illumination in 'The Calligrapher's Handbook' (1956). His numkerous commissions include war memeorial and record books. He was awarded the MBE in 1956.
