Pegaret Anthony
Pegaret Anthony was a student of Jeannetta Cochrane in 1934-8 through whom she developed a great knowledge and love of the history of dress. After completing the course she was asked to return to teach and remained at the college for almost forty years. Her teaching was legendary and she influenced many students. She taught classes on the history of dress and took students to the V&A and the British Museum where they were encouraged to study dress first hand. Her teaching aids included an extensive slide collection - she was one of the first to use slides in her teaching - as well as reproductions of paintings and drawings and brass rubbings. During the Second World War she submitted some of her work to the War Artists Advisory Committee and two watercolour drawings are in the Imperial War Museum collection today. After her death in 2000 the college purchased an extensive collection of her work for the CSM Museum Collection.
