Ian Logan

Logan attended the Central School of Art and Design from 1959-62 as a Textile Design student. On graduating he went to Sweden on a British Council Scholarship to attend the Konstfack in Stockholm. He returned to the UK to join fellow ex-students in a textile print company, JRM Design. During the 1960s he worked for Parker Knoll Textiles, Midwinter Potteries and David Queensbury. In 1972 he opened his own design studio in Covent Garden. His clients at this time included Mary Quant and John Lewis.
In 1978 he designed his first house shaped tin box. These tins went on to become enormously succesful with over 140 different buildings designed including Heal's, Harrods, Macy's and 16 different buildings for the National Trust.
During the 80's he designed ranges of toiletries and tinware for his own company. He also designed postmen's uniforms for the Post Office and uniforms for London Underground Staff.
He has been a visiting lecturer at many art schools including Lima, Peru and New York.
In 2001 he incorporated The Ian Logan Design Company into The Nest, a higly succesful graphics, strategic and interior design company with clients including The Eden Project and Cadbury's.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a Fellow of the Chartered Society of Designers.
