John Lawrence

Educated at Oxford he studied art at the Hastings School of Art (l951-53) and the Central School (1955-57) where he was taught wood engraving by Gertrude Hermes. He taught at Camberwell from 1960 to the mid l990's. He is one of Britain's most prolific and versatile book illustrators, employing a broad variety of media, although he is perhaps best known for his wood engravings. Most of the prints in the Museum Collection by John Lawrence were donated by the artist.
