Gertrude Hermes

She studied at Beckenham School of Art (1919-21) and the Leon Underwood School of Painting and Drawing (1921-25). She taught wood engraving at both St.Martins (1939-47) and Central (1945-66). She worked as a painter & sculptor as well as woodengraving and book illustration. She married and worked with Blair Hughes Stanton (1926-32) who also taught at the Central School. She was elected RA in 1971.
