Freda Osayuki Igiogbe
Freda Osayuki Igiogbe is a multidisciplinary artist, born in Nigeria. Her practice is grounded in storytelling and shaped by the complexities of my upbringing. Working across film, ceramics, and drawing, she explores the intersections of identity, spirituality, and memory. Igiogbe's work often blends African heritage with contemporary ideas, while also addressing the lasting impact of colonialism on her cultural and spiritual traditions.
Currently, Igiogbe works primarily with clay, creating figurative sculptures that merge human and mythical forms. She is drawn to clay for its raw connection to the earth and its role in preserving ancestral knowledge.
At the core of Igiogbe's practice is a desire to reclaim sacred traditions, challenge colonial narratives, and create work that invites others to reflect on the layered stories we each carry within us.
