Nadia-Anne Ricketts

School: Central Saint martins

Nadia-Anne Ricketts founded the avant-garde design label BeatWoven, which uses songs and sounds to express musical formations through textiles.

She discovered the art of weaving whilst studying at Central Saint Martins where she began to see mathematical similarities between the spectrum of sound and the framework of the grid like thread structure upon a weaving loom, that underpins pattern formation to weave fabric. Her experience of sound was transforming into a decorative tangible medium.

In 2008 at the very tip of the amazing technological era she started collaborating with coders and music producers to invent digital tools to help manifest a woven audio fusion into new realms, poised at the intersection of Art, Sound, Design, and Craft. Since then she began an incredible explorative journey creating visual, tactile, woven artworks from music and sound as wall art, or as fabrics for special interior applications such as wall panelling.

2009: First class BA (Hons) Textile Design
