Jack Hart

School: CSM

CSM, MA Performance: Writing, 2021-23

Biography from the artist:
Jack Hart is a queer, working class; playwright, songwriter and actor from Bolton. Often exploring mental illness and queer identity, Jack’s work expresses the unspeakable and flicks the light onto shame. Using their own life as a starting point, Jack wants to start conversations that can clear the fog.
I’m Done With This Shit is Jack’s first musical. They have previously written three full length plays: Man Down (The Actors Centre, 2019); Flesh (The King’s Arms, Salford 2016) and Puff (The King’s Arms Salford, 2014), which they also directed, plus short play Tickled Pink, which was produced at the Royal Exchange Theatre Studio in 2013 as part of the Truth About Youth Festival.
As a solo artist Jack started releasing music and gigging in 2021, having written songs since they were eleven. They have since released multiple singles to Spotify and Apple Music and have gigged at London venues such as The Slaughtered Lamb, Katzpace and The Camden Chapel.
Jack joined MA Performance: Writing at Central Saint Martins in 2021, where they were the only student in their class without an undergraduate degree.
Jack recently worked as devisor/ musician on new gig theatre piece ‘Drop It’ at The Lowry (Rewrites Festival) and new musical ‘There’s No Time, The World Is Dying!’ with Scatter Collective at Taunton Brewhouse. They also wrote the closing number of Scatter Collective’s first London climate cabaret at the Omnibus Theatre.
