Crowe was born in Yelveston, South Devon, and educated at Wycombe Abbey School (1921-4) and Leeds University. She studied at the Central School under Noel Rooke, who fostered her interest in illustration. She exhibited at the Redfern Gallery with the Society of Wood Engravers in 1935 and 1939.
