View of a sculptural installation. A TV screen sits on a concrete floor, and is tethered to walls on either side by heavy, black spiked chains. A video image of a dark brown horse's head against a black background is just visible on the screen.

DescriptionLiina studied MA Contemporary Photography; Practices and Philosophies at Central Saint Martins. In her multidisciplinary practice, she explores the tension between the materiality of objects and the political concepts they provoke. The work Mounted brings together similarities between defensible space and modes of protection for artworks in the gallery. The work articulates issues around hierarchy and power, emphasising a horse as a living body that is being systematically framed. The figure of the horse – a veiled body that almost disappears from the view, could be only seen when its reins are connected to the power. The title Mounted reflects this idea by sifting the meaning between mounting the art object and riding a horse.
