DescriptionJoão studied MA Photography at London College of Communication. He says:
'When reminiscing about the past you can find connections to the present – my work, through my family archive, a series of blustering white-noises and a strong chromatic-gama, tries to convey how a masculine environment can be toxic to a young mind. My subject matter is gender, and how it is manifested through shrouded and vivid memories. ‘Paneleiro’ is a project which reflects a masculine environment that becomes too toxic for a child to grow up untainted by the grasp of an authoritarian, patriarchal atmosphere given by one of the parents, who was harmed by that environment himself.'
