DescriptionJapanese woodblocks:
1. Large wooden block carved with outline design in relief, showing tall square table supporting metal bowl from which emanates smoke, and low, round three-legged table supporting large two-handled vase containing branches (245 x 272 mm).
2. Large wooden block carved on one side with outline relief, showing outline of large bowl containing weed, surrounded by columbine-like leaves and flowers and surmounted by square outline, presumably for a seal. Carved on other side with six small flat leaf shapes (265 x 240 mm).
3. Carved on one side with house on stilts, above water and surrounded by foliage, and on other with pattern of hexagons and growing foliage (274 x 160 mm).
4. Carved on one side with pattern of hexagons, as no.3 (272 x 65 mm)
5. Large block carved on one side with outline of bushes, water, boat and rectangluar block on left. Carved on other side with flat foliage and branch shapes (268 x 235 mm).
6. Carved on one side with outline of warrior, with sword and scroll, and three lines of script down left-hand side (149 x 80 mm).
7. Block with design of woman's head and shoulders and script in top left-hand corner, inked in and head partially carved out, Japanese inscription on sides and one end of block (180 x 122 mm).
