DescriptionSurimono (摺物, prints) designed by Totoya Hokkei (魚屋北渓) based on Genroku (元禄)-era paintings of beautiful women by Hishikawa Moronobu (菱川師宣). Surimono is usually commissioned among poetry clubs and these designs are privately published for distribution to a small group of members for greetings for instance New Year's greetings. The print run was small, and it allowed elaborate and sumptuous workmanship.
