DescriptionA scene from a play titled 'Ichinotani Futaba Gunki(一谷嫩軍記),' performed at Ichimura theatre (市村座) in 1830. This play is categorized as a Jidaimono (時代物, a historical drama) and based on the Genpei War (源平合戦), which took place between Taira (平) and Minamoto (源) clans in the late 12th century. Sagami fell in love with Kumagai from from the Genji clan but she served to Fuji no Kata, a noblewoman belonging to a clan hostile to the Genji. Fuji no Kata showed sympathy and support towards them. With Fuji no Kata's assistance, the couple managed to escape from Kyoto and sought refuge in western Japan. They held eternal gratitude towards Fuji no Kata.
