DescriptionEight carols by Selwyn D. Image with eight etchings by Norman Ackroyd.
Words by Selwyn Image (1849-1930) and Isabella Image (aged 9). Music by Selwyn D. Image. This edition is limited to 34 copies, each containing eight original etchings, loosely inserted. 30 copies are numbered 1 to 30 and four copies, containing artist's proofs of the eight etchings, are numbered I to IV. All are signed. The etchings have been printed in editions of 40 with four artist's proofs. Numbers 31 to 40 of each edition have now been broken. There is also a signed facsimile edition of 500, lithographed on cartridge. The eight carols have been recorded in the chapel of St. Catharine's College, Cambridge by the C.C.A.T. Chamber Choir under their conductor, Dr. Robert Reeve. The organist is Jan Coleman. A copy of the tape is supplied with this limited edition. December 1986. Norman Ackroyd and Selwyn Image first met as students in December 1961. Norman was in his first year at the Royal College of Art, London, and Selwyn at Cambridge University. Selwyn continues an annual tradition, initiated by his great-uncle and namesake, of producing a Christmas carol for his family and friends. The idea of bringing Norman's etchings together with the carols is one that has been discussed for many years. It seems particularly apt that this volume should finally appear on the twenty-fifth anniversary of their first meeting.
