DescriptionFrench manuscript dating in part from the 1380s/1390s and in part from the early 15th century. In this volume pages from two separate books of hours have been bound together. A library plate shows that this volume was, at one time, owned by the Chevalier d'Eon, a celebrated 18th-century soldier, diplomat and spy. The Chevalier d'Eon lived openly as a man and as a woman in France and England at different stages of life, drawing much public interest.
