Object number: P.115
DescriptionImage depicts an encamped army laying siege outside the walls of a town or monastry, a King and his group of guards soldiers, commanders etc stand outside the gates receiving a group of a monks exiting the building's fortifications. The King is more than likely Maximilian and is therefore the Holy Roman Emperor. The two fingered blessing extended by the monks toward the Emperor (crowned and holding sceptre) may confirm this. This may be a single sheet, though it seems more likely that it was made for a series of prints concerned with the Emperor's Triumphs. This print is probably related to P.129.1-.3, all of which seem to depict war scenes of one description or another.
