DescriptionDepicting Christ, crowned with thorns, before a crowd, awaiting his fate. All except Christ are dressed in garb contemporary to Durer. This is perhaps the first series of woodcuts (those made 1497-1500, including this one). His style is noticeably influenced by his first visit to Italy in 1495.
