DescriptionCiaran studied MA Commercial Photography at London College of Communication. His artist's statement tells us that, ''Is He Family?' unfolds within the school drama studio where Ciaran was previously taught by Neil. The title, from coded language once used within queer communities, opens a dialogue across generations. The stage anchors this dialogue, where performance and authenticity meet. The project centres on the bonds of chosen family through empathy, shared experience and creative play. In making these images, Ciaran sought to move beyond the erotic lens through which queer male identity has often been framed. His work invites reflection on how intimacy and memory shape connection and belonging, regardless of who we are'.
