DescriptionFreda studied BA Ceramic Design at Central Saint Martins. She says, 'My practice explores identity, memory, and spirituality through ceramics, storytelling, and drawing. Rooted in my upbringing within a devout Christian household, I examine the tension between inherited beliefs and traditional African spirituality. Working primarily with clay, I create symbolic, expressive forms that blend human and mythical elements, drawing on African ceramic traditions and matrilineal knowledge. My work invites reflection on cultural displacement, ancestral memory, and spiritual transformation challenging colonial narratives and honouring the sacred traditions that shape and sustain us across generations'.
