“Sir Eduardo Paolozzi Sculpture at Kew

In keeping with its policy of displaying sculpture by living artists, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, now boasts an important work of art by the eminent British Sculptor, Sir Eduardo Paolozzi, CBE, RA.

Situated at the south entrance to the Princess of Wales Conservatory, the abstract figure, semi reclining, is eminently suitable for the magical setting of the Woodland Garden. The piece is entitled ‘a maximis ad minima’ (from the Greatest to the Least), and was cast in bronze, supervised by Richard Rome at the Royal College of Art Foundry.

The international spirits and retailing group Allies Domecq PLC has sponsored the sculpture. The Group’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Tony Pratt, says, “Allied Domecq are delighted to have enabled the casting of the magnificent piece of Sir Eduardo’s work. In setting it at Kew, it means two objectives of fostering the arts and adding another dimension to the beauty of the Royal Botanic Gardens”.”
