DescriptionMeicen studied MA Theatre and Performance Design at Wimbledon College of Arts. She says: 'The project The Wedding Banquet, inspired by Ang Lee's film, focuses on the marital pressures faced by contemporary Chinese women. The story follows Weiwei, a Chinese woman with study abroad experience, who is under parental pressure, enters a sham marriage. At her wedding banquet, she confronts her parents, rejecting marriage for its own sake. The stage design integrates Chinese cultural elements like blind dating traditions and "dating corners," using a revolving stage to dynamically depict the evolving narrative'.
