part two of the series, this oil painting shows the family photo after they moved to Spain, and there are less people around during the family dinner compare to the first painting. These chairs, though empty, are kept in hope, yearning for a reunion that may one day fill the room again.

DescriptionNatalia Romero Gutteirrez studied BA Fine Art: Painting (with Creative Computing) at Camberwell college of arts. She is a queer painter whose art is a deeply biographical exploration of her life and experiences. By growing up in Colombia, moving to Spain at the age of eight, and relocating to the UK four years ago, she is still learning the complexities of migration now, as an adult. Natalia’s journey is marked by migration, cultural displacement, and the continuous redefinition of home. Her paintings are rooted in memories and old family photographs, creating vivid scenes and conversations about sexuality, faith, and the struggles of displacement. Each piece is a narrative that bridges her personal history with broader themes of identity and belonging. Each artwork is a heartfelt homage to her subjects, inviting viewers to find new meanings in the shared experiences and to celebrate the profound beauty and significance inherent in their stories.
