DescriptionFarah Maktari studied BA Fine Art at Chelsea College of Arts. Her practice focuses on reviving archives and playing with historical myths and narratives to open the dialogue on ways to reinvent cultures and archives in today’s world. Maktari mainly works with pattern work, textiles, paintings, and archives to question the agency cultures and identities possess. The Al-Nahdtha cabinet resonates with the grief and the imagination of familial heritage commemorating her grandfather, reviving the loss of memory and the importance of keeping childhood alive. The blur of fabricated and historical archives illustrates methods to reinvent heritage to be practised.
