DescriptionArtist's Statement:
This reimagined print is a humorous take on blending old with modern. Decades ago, people would commission portrait to showcase themselves, but we are now in an age where we showcase ourselves through our dating profiles. The piece also partly mocks William Camden, taking away his powder reducing him to Will; once an important man now merely a dating profile to swipe past.

The intention was to make the newly drawn parts seamlessly blend with the original print without using the same technique. This piece was made using a combination of black gel pen, coloured pencils and gouache paint. I initially drew all the black hatching lines with the pen and then went over these with the pencils to both make the pen appear greyer and to make the background darker, as though it had been marked with excess ink during a printing process. Finally, I painted on the white details to complete the tinder profile.
