BA Textile Design students Phoebe Sudderick, Michael Woods, Lily Thornton, and Mimi Forrest devised their own visual data collection using London transport as inspiration for weave and printed textiles. From this, four students were selected by staff from the Museum and Textile Companies to take their designs to the Weaving Futures studio.
Phoebe looked at movement on board the Tube. She let her pen move around the page by the movement of the train along the tracks. She made these movement maps for roughly two months, and started to overlap them to see if there was a pattern. No pattern emerged, the movements were erratic. However, she took forward into her weaves the shapes and layouts that appeared.
