DescriptionSketchbook (The Langton watercolour book) and 7 loose drawings:
This contains some of the hundreds of drawings that Aldworth made on location at the Royal London Hospital from 2000-2005. Aldworth had to work fast as she observed the brain scans in real time. She decided to use colour as a shorthand to emphasise that the patient on the operating table was a person and not an object, and that they were often in extremis having had a stroke or a tumour. Colour describes this emotional attachment to her subject matter. The Brainscape suite of 30 etching and aquatints were based on these drawings. Read more in the catalogue: “Scribing the Soul”
