DescriptionEtching and aquatint is one of the 30 Brainscape etchings that Aldworth produced in response to the drawings she made on location during her residency at the Royal London Hospital. This etching was based on the location drawing in the museum collection. Together with master printer Nigel Oxley, Aldworth developed a unique etching process which involved drawing on the plate underneath the aquatint, and then throwing chemicals in the powder before it was fixed with heat. This developed a unique voice of white line etching and chemical reactions which Aldworth considered to be a visual equivalence of consciousness at work.
