DescriptionKemi studied BA Textile Design at Central Saint Martins. Her artist's statement says that she is 'interested in how she embodies her cultural background and expresses this through material craftmanship, in a contemporary way. Exploring sustainability, through the resourceful use of found materials, because when put together in an interesting way, they communicate in their own language form.

This piece was inspired by the concept of language, looking and how it can be expressed through textile craft, as a way of reconnecting to her cultural background of West African Heritage. The structure of this piece came about while looking at how African hairstyles can become sculptural, using a technique called coiling.'
