DescriptionArtwork from the Drawing and the Gift project between the CSM Museum & Study Collection and Anne Eggebert, BA Fine Art XD pathway tutor. Each Fine Art student on the XD Pathway were given a deaccessioned, duplicate print from the CSM Museum & Study collection, as a gift, and were asked to make responses to the work, drawing on the works and altering the prints to make new pieces.

In this work the student looked into the history of the sitter in the portrait and found a link to the slave trade which informed the response.

The original print shows Barbara Villiers, Countess of Castlemaine, by William Fairthorne, 1666.
