P.2022.94.CC.1 - “There’s Something I Want To Tell You”
It’s National Coming Out Day today🌈💙
To mark this significant day, here’s a little illustration to honour of us who have had those realisations and conversations, with ourselves and one another.
There is no “right” time to come OR “right” way to come out. The experience is different for everyone. From big, proud public announcements, to sensitive conversations round a table. And those quiet and tender moments of personal revelations; the first time that the words just slip out; whether it’s walk in a park, a text to a friend, or just a nod in the mirror to say “this is who I am”
You are you, regardless whether you “come out” or not, and however or whenever we choose to express ourselves is entirely valid.
Often we’ll find ourselves “coming out” again and again and again, countless times throughout our lives, to countless different people. I’m sure they’ll be a time where it isn’t necessary.
And as many have wisely said; maybe best articulated by @tanyacompas
is “rather than us coming out; we are letting people in”
But to those who haven’t yet “come out” you are still bold and authentically beautiful.
Finding ourselves and discovering the language that best describes who we are, in all our depth can be a life long journey. “Coming out” may not be a onetime experience, but something we learn to do, again and again; and that is powerful.
Thinking back to the conversations I’ve had with friends and family, the lower times of my life, the unhappy and fearful periods I’ve spent questioning my identity and worried what others would think. I’m still growing, and still learning about myself each day and flourishing into the very best version of myself. However long it will take, there is no time limit to understanding and embracing who we are.
To all in the community, on this day; whether you’re “out” or not, sending my warmest wishes, love and joy. You are wonderful in all your colours. 🌈

P.2022.94.CC.3 - “No One Can Define Non-Binary Except You.”
Being Non-Binary isn’t an aesthetic. There is no “right” way to “look” non-binary: we just ARE non-binary. However someone presents and expresses themselves is not up for debate, commentary or scrutiny. There are so many beautiful people on this earth who are non-binary - and guess what! We all are completely different and unique. Non-Binary doesn’t just mean androgynous and masc-presenting. Non-binary doesn’t just mean white and slim. Non-Binary doesn’t just mean able-bodied. Non-Binary doesn’t just mean they/them. Non-Binary doesn’t just mean wanting surgeries/hormones. Non-Binary CAN mean all of that but also means Black and Brown. Non-Binary also means disabled. Non-Binary also means fem-presenting, fluid, everything at once and nothing at all. Non-Binary also means fat. Non-Binary also means not wanting surgeries or hormones. Non-Binary also means They/She, They/He, She/Her, He/Him, He/She/They, Ze/Zir or any other pronouns and combinations that make someone feel affirmed.
Non-Binary can look like anything under the sun and mean whatever a person wants it to.
But most importantly: no one can ever define your existence except you.

P.2022.94.CC.5 - “Black Lives Matter”
If you’re unable to attend the protests happening right now: there’s still so much to be involved that can help create change. Keep your foot on the gas and implement action in your own life. I’ve linked the Black Lives Matter mega database document in my bio. In the document, it lists a multitude of ways you can help and links you directly to them. From signing petitions, donating to organisations, protestors, victims and black owned businesses and educating yourself: Check it out! Use it! Share it! (*I created this drawing as a symbol to honour victims of police brutality, systemic racism and as a mark of solidarity to all who protest against it.) *I’m not an educator, so if you’re non-black, please don’t ask me for advice or information: seek other resources BUT I will continue to use my work as a tool to highlight, bring joy and awareness. #protest #justice #blacklivesmatter #blackartmatters
