Description by the artist:
“Black Briton” is a series of characters and symbols depicting emotions and experiences acquired by the artist. The objective is to use that information to re-enforce the idea of individualism in relation to the black experience in the UK. The placement of the Union Jack is a reference to Fante-Asafo flags. These flags were used to depict symbols representing the merging of two cultural traditions. The artist uses this structure to explore his dual heritage and other post-colonial subcultures.
